TOEC was an amazing trip for our students. Students got to experience wood-burning stone fireplace, colorful nature displays, comfortable woodland cabins, friendly service, excellent meals and knowledgeable educators for many activities.

Career Day provides our students with an up-close and personal view of a wide variety of jobs. The hands-on demonstration captures and held the students' attention as they learned about different fields. Career day is a powerful opportunity to have our students in a role they can see themselves in adulthood. We came to school dressed in our wackiest and craziest: red hair, green hair, crazy hats, wacky stuff ooooh my. Every student who aims to become a high-achiever will experience test stress. It’s an unavoidable part of student life that can be a tough. We remind our students, we can beat the test, beat the stress. Through the bombardment game we are able establish methods to reduce the pressures students feel during testing. The aerobic exercise from these fun bombardment games help our students to release anxiety and excess energy and, as a result reduce tension. In the end it was a fun activity for students and staff. Especially since students beat the teachers 3 games to none. On sports day, the atmosphere of the school took a festive look. A great interest was observed among the students and teachers. Our energetic and dynamic students dressed in their favorite sports attire. Students at P.S.173 celebrated different cultures around the world at the school’s annual Heritage Day. Students from kindergarten to grade 5 showed off their handmade projects, illustrating the diversity, customs and history of countries all around the world. The daylong event featured performances, including the singing of national anthems and stage presentations on projectors.
Dancing Classrooms are back with ballroom dancing lessons for our 5th graders. Ballroom dancing helps to build social awareness in our students, so they not only learn how to dance; they also learn how to respect one another. The maturity necessary to dance together fosters respect, civility, teamwork, cooperation, confidence and a sense of joy, accomplishment and achievement. Through dancing, they learn valuable life skills and lessons of self-discovery, self-expression, and self-confidence. Their posture and confidence improves and awkwardness is replaced with physical grace & poise. Are you ready to DANCE! Student council is working on providing our school with many great activities and items. They plan on providing movement classes for prekindergarten, Bluetooth speakers, ballroom dancing outfits, pizza parties and other awesome things. They are demonstrating moral, civic and democratic values through their fundraising. |
