Big congrats to this month's winners! We are so proud of all our students, particularly on days like this! Each of our kids have shown tremendous progress and we can't wait to see what successes lay ahead.
Did you know that everyone's fingerprints are inherited? Or that a fast food burger can stay in almost mint condition without molding or smelling...for over 5 weeks! (YUCK!) Our STEM teacher, Ms. Grube, hosted this year's very successful science fair surrounded by all of the 5th grade participant's teachers, families, and friends. Students thoroughly researched a topic of their choice, posed a hypothesis, tested their hypothesis through a variety of experiments, formed a conclusion/theory, and then presented their work at the fair. Each student's work was, "judged" based on their visual presentation, their depth of knowledge on their topic, and how they incorporated each piece of the scientific method in their project. Excellent work by all our scientists--looking forward to next year!
PS173 certainly has some spirit! During our annual Spirit Week, we got things going with our Monday sportin' some really fancy attire on Fancy Day. Tuesday was filled with giggles as students had Teacher Look A Like Day. On Thursday, we got movin' in the warm weather for Exercise Day. And we rounded out the week with our "Beat the Test" Pep Rally where the Harlem Wizards faced off with our talented teachers and kids as we got pumped up to "defeat" the NY State Tests! |
