Every year the PS173 art expo seems to get better. This is something so many kids love to do, and they're excited there's an art day. The PS173 art expo featured many pieces of artwork by students from grades K-5. It's an exciting opportunity for our young artists to have their art displayed for everyone to see. Children have become more aware of their art and are more interested in what others are working on too. Sharing their work really elevates the experience, to bring it outside of the classroom and into the community. The event brings parents, students, and their peers together. Teachers have made their own connections at the show and created community within community. It's just sort of a really nice celebration of the arts. Students understand it's a big deal. That’ll be something they'll never forget. Congratulations to all of our amazing artists. PS 173 Boys Scouts honored several veterans during WWII Veterans Appreciation Day. They met with the pilot who flew the last mission before the war ended and the nephew of the last soldier who fell. They listened to the veterans words of guidance. They learned about values and how everyone should focus on the bigger picture of "US" instead of "OURSELVES",remembering to support each other. The Boys Scouts were honored to participate along side these veterans and were grateful to receive an invitation to be part of the Veterans Day Parade.
Congratulations PS173 Young Runners, baseball team, girls soccer team and boys soccer team on a winning season thus far. They have all played well and won must of their games and races. Even when our teams have lost, they played well and hard. We commemorate them on their first-class effort, hard work and stupendous wins. A special shout out to Young Runners Carter Skeete, Amaury Fernandez, Jesus Soto, Destyn Quinones and Jayren Peralta for placing 2nd at the Spring Forward in Van Cortlandt Park.
