We are HEROES!!! Together We Stop Bullying!!!

P.S. 173 students stared wide-eyed in amazement as what appeared to be a real-life super hero bent a steal rod and ripped a thick text book in half with his bare hands! Titan, from the Omegaman superhero team, did more than use the power of his muscles to impress the students and staff. Titan also spread messages of positive words, respect, self control and believing in yourself. As he convinced students to help stop bullying by being  “dream makers” and not “dream breakers.” Students learned how to be super cool, super fun, and superheroes. Our students left the assembly with smiles on their faces, ready to fill the buckets of their peers, their teachers, and their families.”  Together We Make PS173 A Bully Free School. A Superhero Is Coming To Our School. Top Character Development & Bully Prevention Assembly

One of the members from the Omegaman & Friends school assembly program will be presenting their positive Superhero message to our students at P.S. 173 on September 13, 2017 during school. All teachers and students can wear their favorite superhero costumes/shirts the day of the assembly.

Omegaman & Friends is a very unique school assembly presentation. Their message delivers the Anti-Bullying/Character Development topics through a superhero theme.

They challenge students to live a life as a Dream-Maker (making good choices) & not be a Dream-Breaker (making bad choices). They perform feats of strength; such as, snapping a baseball bat & ripping a phone book in half as a tool to illustrate and maintain the attention of our students to ensure that their message is not lost.

Schools across the nation have seen a great increase of BULLYING in their schools.  P.S. 173 is taking a proactive stance against this trend.  Through this assembly, our students will learn how to Identify, Respond, and Prevent bullying in our school, to make sure every student is a H.E.R.O. – Helping Everyone Respect Others.

You will have an opportunity to meet the Superhero and hear the powerful message on September 13, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at our Back to School Night.  It is one event you will not want to miss.  We appreciate your investment in your child’s life and look forward to seeing you there!

Thank You,
Ms. Rachael Garcia

Dear Parents,

We wish every P.S. 173 family a warm welcome back to school.  We hope you had an enjoyable summer and we look forward to working with our new students and their families as well as our returning. At P.S. 173, our primary goal is to provide our children with the highest quality educational experience possible, to ensure that every child becomes a successful citizen, and that all students are ready for college and a career.

P.S. 173 is a school where the children, their parents, teachers and administrators work together to make a difference in the Fort Washington Community.  Together we can make a difference.  Together, all the children will read for enjoyment, write to express their thoughts, raise their hands to share their feelings, work hard and smart, smile and laugh. Together we will make a difference.

I am confident that with the teachers’ clear expectations, delivery of differentiated instruction, and facilitation of learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction and choice on a daily basis will result in an increase of academic success in your children, and most importantly, create a love for learning.

                                                                                                            Sincerely,

                                                                                                            Ms. Rachael Garcia

“Together we can make a difference!”
Instructional Focus: Students will be challenged cognitively through a curriculum that has been developed by a coherent set of beliefs about how students learn best and the analysis of data. Students will engage in a high level of instruction that aligns to the instructional shifts and the CCLS, meeting the needs of all learners, giving each multiple opportunities to succeed. They will reflect on their learning and will be able to justify their response to what they are learning.
“We read, we listen, we learn, we think, we talk, we question, we prove, we respond, we revise our thoughts, we understand.”
