Let's kick-off spring reading season with "The Music From Our Country" an amazing story of a little girl named Mechi who lives in Washington Heights. She learns how to dance bachata from her family in their "sala" (living room.) Mechi is woken up to a yummy breakfast, then gets a dance lesson as a treat. Dabrali Diaz was born and raised in Washington Heights. She has always been involved in dancing. She has a LLC called Dancing Dabrali and has danced many genres professionally including bachata and salsa to name a few. Dabrali is an alumni of PS 173. She attended from Kindergarten to 5th grade and graduated 2002. One of her goals is to build a legacy for her community by creating an impact through her Dominican Culture.

This took a lot of courage from you, and for that, I respect you. I seriously believe that you are a person who has gone through a lot. I cannot say that I am in the same boat as you, but I really do feel like we are similar. I hope that we can start to help each other grow. From now on, I want to be part a team that can raise the awareness of everyone who is involved in the scene.
