Thank you to all the students who voted on the name and submitted drawings for the school Mascot.
It was a lot of fun seeing the student’s excitement choosing a mascot name and drawing which they hoped would become the PS173 mascot. The PTA and Administers had a lot of fun going through all the drawings, every drawing was great unfortunately only one could be chosen. The Lucky artist was Ivanna Perez from class 511. Now we introduce The PS173 mascot that student’s chose is the Wolves aka Los Lobos. The Wolves will become an indelible part of our school’s culture. The Wolves mascot will strongly represent our school. Our school is known for working together, inspiring the choice of the Wolves, which are a pack animals that work together. Our school mascot will be representing PS 173 colors of blue and yellow with our new mascot on our school sport jerseys.

Valentine's Day is a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for people we love. At PS173 some teachers encouraged students to make and decorate individual gifts. Others had a single box in which children can deposit valentines for other people. Time was also spent making valentines for family members. This holiday was used as a way to teach students about respecting each other and using positive comments. Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day with the Kids
