Exposing our pre kindergarten to music helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. Most important its a blast. Let's dance!!!!!
P.S.173 4th grade brought the magic, pageantry and profession of Broadway to our school with a performance of CATS.
Our 5th graders are getting the chance of using a hands on experience while have a fun time trying to predict their odds of winning the grand prize on some of the arcade games at Dave and Busters. Lets have some fun!
It is with great excitement that we are welcoming our ballroom dancing Silver Ribbon Champions from Dancing classrooms competition. It was truly an honor and a privilege to be involved in the event with such history, and in the heart of our home, and best school - P.S.173.
Our wonderful world of Ballroom Dance has given us so much, and we at P.S.173 will continue to develop and promote this wonderful art form.
Our students have grown so much, first as new dancers to novice competitors. Our students gave it their best, demonstrating style and grace. We at P.S. 173 appreciate how our ballroom dancers represented us.
Parents and students received a joyful production of ballroom dancing from our 5th graders. It was full of triumph featuring technical flair, charm and grace. The performance was an exciting event and a great way to celebrate these talented dancers.
Our P.S.173 Turn 2 US baseball players had the amazing opportunity to visit Yankee Stadium. These baseball players exemplify the qualities of true champions. They are hardworking, compassionate and always strive to be the best they can be in all they do. This special trip was offered as a reward for their great work ethic and positive character traits during the 2017-2018 baseball season.
The students arrived at Yankee Stadium accompanied by their coaches, they were greeted by the Yankee Stadium tour directors. The players had the thrill of their lives touring the magnificent stadium, visiting the Yankee Museum, Monument Park and the Yankee Dugout. The students were amazed by what they saw and loved sitting in the Judge's Chambers section. It was a day that these students will never forget.
We are excited to present the April and May students of the Month. This event recognizes children who standout, celebrating our students who have reached the top of their class. It takes a lot of dedication to make Student of the Month, and we don’t treat the selecting lightly. They set the bar high!!!
Family nights at P.S.173 gives a great sense of community. It helped our parents get connected to the school and show kids that school can be fun. This night was about building on the curriculum, explaining to the parents what to expect moving forward and just a way for parents and children to have fun together at school.
PS 173’s Carnival: Together We Can Make a Difference was an exciting event for students, parents and staff to enjoy: face painting, basketball, bounce houses, giant slide, magic show, and games. On behalf of PS.173, we would like to personally thank everyone for their donations and volunteering their time at our Together We Make a Difference Carnival. This event couldn't be a success without your participation and your help.
TOEC was an amazing trip for our students. Students got to experience wood-burning stone fireplace, colorful nature displays, comfortable woodland cabins, friendly service, excellent meals and knowledgeable educators for many activities.
