On March 13th, our students of Little Feet had an exciting opportunity to participate in White Coat Day. The purpose of this day is to welcome doctors, nurses, and athletic trainers into the armory for a day of fun and healthy activities. Students got to ask questions of their new found friends and develop a trust between those in the medical field and themselves. Check us out on their website!
While so many of us were probably still sleeping, this brave group of NY Road Runners represented PS173 in the best light. A group of students with their coach Ms. Rodriguez took Times Square on March 17th as adults participated in the United Airlines Half Marathon. What an amazing experience it was to run with others who have so much ambition to go the distance!
Another month in the books--congrats to all this month's winners! We are so proud to celebrate each and every one of you and can't wait to see how much your accomplish over the next few months.
100 days in and these kids are just getting started! Each class celebrated the 100th day of school in their own special way; from 100 hand prints to 100 words--100 pompoms to dressing as 100 years old! The creativity was flowing and everyone was in great spirits!
On the coldest day of the year so far (it was 2 degrees at 8:30 AM!!) parents and students huddled into the auditorium to celebrate our January Students of the Month. We are always so proud of our kids, especially on days like this one, and it's always so rewarding hearing how far students have come since the beginning of the year. Congratulations to all this month's winners!
A new year means a new opportunity to make a change! Ms. S's kindergarten class paired up with Ms. Riolo's 3rd grade class for their first book buddies meeting. This was a fun and educational opportunity for both groups to learn from one another while simultaneously building new friendships. The 3rd graders acted as the role models, guiding their kindergarten friends to point under words, spot sight words they've practiced in class, and use the pictures to help them when things got tricky; while on the other hand, the kindergartners, "taught" the older kids about patience and helped them recognize how much they've grown in such a short amount of time.
A win/win situation--and an event both grades are eager to do again!
One of our favorite yearly traditions on the last day before break is having special guest readers come join us on the comfiest day of the year--Pajama Day! Each class welcomes a special guest to join them in a holiday reading. Following the read aloud, students participate in winter crafts, and enjoy an exciting luncheon with music, families, and fun. Thank you to the PTA and Mr. Rangel for making our luncheon so much fun for everyone.
