On the uptown side of Manhattan, in a heavily Hispanic community, donations are pouring in from people worried about families on the Caribbean islands ravaged by Hurricane Maria. A temporary donation center at P.S.173 had been set up by PS173M, I Love My Hood & Fundacion Una Mano Amigo to send much needed food and supplies to Puerto Rico & Dominican Republic. Across NYC, donations are being made at drop off sites. P.S173 was set up as a temporary drop off site to offer a convenient location for the community. The community responded by dropping off water, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, clothes, baby wipes and diapers. Throughout the day, people dropped off donations. Administrators and Students sorted packed and loaded items to be dropped off at NYC Donation Site Engine 95, 29 Vermilyea Ave, NY, NY, 10034. As a community we are proud to assist those families in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. P.S.173 would like to thank everyone for their contributions and remind us all that “Together We Make a Difference.”
