Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids and books. We like to Incorporate special activities to celebrate reading with our students. This year we add something a little different because children sometimes do not realize that the movies they watch were originally books. Beauty and the Beast is a fairy tale that has been around forever. Being that the movie will release in mid March, we thought that the children would enjoy hearing the actual story first. Jan Brett's version of this tale is lovely and includes beautiful art work. We think the children really enjoy the Dr. Seuss activity and the Beauty & the Beast twist, see for yourself. .
