Dear Parents,

We wish every P.S. 173 family a warm welcome back to school.  We hope you had an enjoyable summer and we look forward to working with our new students and their families as well as our returning. At P.S. 173, our primary goal is to provide our children with the highest quality educational experience possible, to ensure that every child becomes a successful citizen, and that all students are ready for college and a career.

P.S. 173 is a school where the children, their parents, teachers and administrators work together to make a difference in the Fort Washington Community.  Together we can make a difference.  Together, all the children will read for enjoyment, write to express their thoughts, raise their hands to share their feelings, work hard and smart, smile and laugh. Together we will make a difference.

I am confident that with the teachers’ clear expectations, delivery of differentiated instruction, and facilitation of learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction and choice on a daily basis will result in an increase of academic success in your children, and most importantly, create a love for learning.

                                                                                                            Sincerely,

                                                                                                            Ms. Rachael Garcia

“Together we can make a difference!”
Instructional Focus: Students will be challenged cognitively through a curriculum that has been developed by a coherent set of beliefs about how students learn best and the analysis of data. Students will engage in a high level of instruction that aligns to the instructional shifts and the CCLS, meeting the needs of all learners, giving each multiple opportunities to succeed. They will reflect on their learning and will be able to justify their response to what they are learning.
“We read, we listen, we learn, we think, we talk, we question, we prove, we respond, we revise our thoughts, we understand.”
